A DECADE OF ORGULLO LATINO

We couldn’t have chosen a better setting to celebrate our 10-year anniversary than Panama. This fascinating small country, privileged to connect the Americas and link the Pacific and Atlantic oceans, perfectly reflects REMOTE’s core mission. As our sponsor and Host Destination, Panama embodies the spirit from which REMOTE was born — to link the owners of small, unique lodges in Latin America with the world’s best travel designers, always in remote locations that, like Boquete, are familiar to few travelers.

Before the event, the REMOTE staff twice visited the Chiriquí Highlands, famous for their cloud forests. The surprising biodiversity and unique, high-altitude climate — perfect for agriculture — were essential in shaping many of the 20 activities offered to REMOTERS every afternoon during the official Immersion.

Not by coincidence, aside from outdoor adventures such as hikes, e-biking and trails to waterfalls, the list of experiences presented to the international audience included many agritourism and community-based visits. They would allow travelers to sample local rum, tea, honey and, especially, coffee. This corner of western Panama offers the perfect terroir for producing some of the world’s finest coffee — including the prized Geisha variety.

Inspired by the theme Orgullo Latino, the REMOTE Talks and Seeds were curated to highlight some of the experiences that Latin Americans are proud to share. From Argentina’s gaucho heritage to the rise of culinary experiences in Panama, these stories reflect the kind of travel encounters only possible in Latin America — and that passionate REMOTE participants have shared with the world over the past decade.
