Imagine wandering colorful cobblestone streets, each corner whispering tales of centuries past — from the trials of devastating natural disasters to the vibrant stories of Indigenous Maya cultures. Encircled by the majestic silhouettes of four volcanoes — Agua, Fuego, Acatenango and Pacaya — the surrounding landscape of Antigua is a powerful reminder that nature dictates the rhythm of life here, shaping the city’s resilience and prosperity.

Nestled in the heart of Guatemala’s central highlands, Antigua Guatemala, commonly referred to as simply Antigua, is the enchanting setting for our next adventure. In just five months, REMOTE Immersion Antigua 2025 — the first of our two Immersions next year — will kick off at this charming UNESCO World Heritage site. Renowned for its exquisitely preserved Spanish Baroque architecture, Antigua is a place where history, culture and nature combine in perfect harmony, and we can’t wait to share its wonders with you!

Strolling through Antigua feels like stepping back in time. Its 16th-century buildings, inspired by the Italian Renaissance, and vibrant artisan markets, which celebrate Mayan culture, weave a narrative of resilience and renewal. Until the late 18th century, Antigua — then known as Santiago — was Guatemala’s thriving capital and one of the grandest cities in the Spanish Empire. However, a series of natural disasters, including floods, volcanic eruptions and devastating earthquakes, forced the capital to relocate to its current site. Renamed La Antigua Guatemala (The Old Guatemala), the city surrendered its status to what is now Guatemala City.

The Perfect Setting for Meaningful REMOTE Connections and Memorable Celebrations

While Antigua is one of Guatemala’s most beloved destinations, its compact urban center and unhurried pace fit perfectly with our vision for an intimate, dynamic event. Here, we’ll cross paths naturally as we wander the charming streets, uncover hidden corners and venture out into its stunning and unexpected surroundings.

In November, the REMOTE team returned to Antigua to finalize more details for the upcoming event. From selecting the finest venues, accommodations and restaurants to curating unforgettable experiences, every step is being designed to ensure that our REMOTERS are able to explore Antigua in the most enriching way possible. According to Clara Davies, Director of REMOTE Latin America, “Antigua captivates with its cobblestone streets, colonial architecture, and stunning volcano views. It’s a place where history meets vibrant culture, offering us the perfect setting to foster meaningful connections and inspire new possibilities.”

Antigua also boasts a vibrant culinary and social scene. Cozy coffee shops serve locally grown blends, while restaurants showcase a delightful mix of traditional and contemporary dishes. The city’s culinary offerings also highlight the exceptional local coffee and chocolate production, providing visitors with immersive and flavorful experiences that celebrate its rich heritage.

Beyond the city’s borders, Antigua serves as a gateway to unforgettable adventures — whether hiking on active volcanoes, exploring lush coffee plantations or visiting the tranquil waters of Lake Atitlán, just two and a half hours away.

More than just a visual feast, our REMOTE Immersion 2025 host destination is a hub for meaningful, transformational travel. Over the coming months, we hope to inspire you with remarkable stories that prove Antigua to be an unparalleled destination.
