With its colorful UNESCO World Heritage colonial architecture, the welcoming Maya people—who make up almost 50% of the national population—and unique natural landscapes shaped by aligned volcanoes and lush coffee plantations, the former capital, Antigua Guatemala, proved to be the perfect setting for an edition that filled our team with pride and a strong sense of a job well done.
Held in May 2025, our 8th edition was the first of two REMOTE Immersions produced in the same year. This was a solution to better accommodate the waiting list of participating Exhibitors, without losing the intimacy and small scale of each of our events. It also marked our return to Central America seven years after our debut in this part of the continent, in Costa Rica, in 2018.
There are solid reasons behind the success reflected in the excellent feedback we received after the event. First and foremost, our stellar DMC partner, ViaVenture, supported us in working with the most professional guides and service providers in this well-established tourism destination in Guatemala.
In addition, the combination of sacred natural environments, well-preserved human traditions, and a rich historical legacy expressed the REMOTE spirit not only during our outdoor and cultural afternoon activities, but also throughout the REMOTE Talks & Seeds in the evenings. After inspiring hikes and handicraft sessions, speakers explored contemporary Maya archaeology, culinary anthropology, and ways to better integrate AI into day-to-day tourism practices.
