Located in Chile’s breathtaking Lakes and Volcanoes region, in the south of the country, Puyehue hosted the seventh REMOTE Immersion with an atmosphere reminiscent of the early days when we met on boats, such as in the Amazon in 2016 and in Chilean Patagonia in 2017. For the second time, our boutique travel show came to Chile — this time with the intention of fully immersing REMOTERS in the natural surroundings of the iconic Termas Puyehue Wellness & Spa Resort.
Far from the distractions of little towns that characterized other editions, participants of REMOTE Immersion Puyehue had more quality time to connect with the pristine landscapes of nearby Puyehue National Park and to deepen their interactions with one another. The impeccable hotel staff worked diligently to provide countless opportunities for meaningful engagement: from business meetings and dinners inspired by Chilean landscapes to relaxing moments in the natural hot springs – and even an improvised jam session among REMOTERS one evening.
Eleven speakers at the REMOTE Talks & Seeds sessions shared great stories, some of them about Chile’s most renowned regions. They shared relevant updates, including on conservationist Kris Tompkins’s Route of the Parks of Patagonia initiative and valuable lessons from inspiring Indigenous tourism experiences in Rapa Nui (formerly known as Easter Island). From the Atacama Desert came innovative approaches to measuring water footprints and protecting water resources. Stories to encourage REMOTERS to keep exploring Chile’s extraordinary natural diversity in the Pre- and Post-Immersion extension trips traditionally offered to participants.
