It is remarkable to think that since 2016 we have managed to keep our events intentionally intimate, prioritizing small gatherings over scale.
After traveling to so many extraordinary destinations in Latin America alongside our community of passionate experts in high-end hospitality, we are convinced that the best way forward is to keep doing exactly what we have done so far.

Journeying to precious locations throughout this region has given way to unforgettable moments, sparked meaningful relationships, and generated purposeful business opportunities with positive impact. We have witnessed a growing global interest in remote natural and cultural experiences in Latin America and are proud to showcase a region that still has so much to explore and share with the world.
The evolution of the REMOTE Sustainability Journey
Since its inception, REMOTE Latin America has prized a concern for the destinations we visit and the impacts we generate as central to our values. Over the past decade, we have evolved our approach, recognizing that our role goes beyond minimizing impacts to creating positive benefits for host communities.
From intention to positive impact
To support the communities that open their doors to us, REMOTE has developed initiatives to give back. In Barichara, Colombia, we launched REMOTE Legacy, which became one of the main pillars of our impact strategy. Since then, every edition has brought together local tourism professionals, students, and residents for free, open talks on responsible tourism in the local language, creating a space for connection with locals.
At REMOTE Immersion Cuenca in 2023, we implemented our first structured sustainability strategy in collaboration with the Chilean NGO Regenera. Inspired by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council’s standards and the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, it was designed to be an evolving process based on active listening and adapted to each destination’s realities and challenges.
Remote Sustainability Strategy
The first and most important step is to listen to the community, as well as to our local partners and suppliers, to understand how we can contribute to a collective effort toward more sustainable tourism in the region.

We conduct a focused sustainability consultancy with our local suppliers, encouraging dialogue and shared learning.

After identifying the current landscape, along with the region’s needs and challenges, we develop a set of practical recommendations to be implemented by the accommodations both during the event and on an ongoing basis.

Key approaches
We began engaging with local suppliers through short consultations on sustainability to identify opportunities for strengthening responsible practices, improving operations and co-creating solutions suited to each place.
This collaborative approach has helped shape the events around clear priorities, including reducing waste and single-use plastics, promoting the responsible use of water and energy, highlighting sustainable food production and local farmers, celebrating the host destination’s heritage, and raising awareness among participants through responsible content and talks — in a journey toward sustainability and regeneration which is ongoing.
Latin America & Caribbean Land Acknowledgment
We at REMOTE Latin America recognize and honor the extensive history and enduring presence of Indigenous peoples throughout the region that we love. This vast and diverse region is home to countless Indigenous communities who have lived harmoniously with the land for millennia. We acknowledge their profound connection to these lands, waters and ecosystems, and are committed to respecting their legacy and rights.
We understand that our activities and events, as well as the operations of our REMOTE Exhibitors, are held in the traditional territories of many Indigenous nations. From the Quechua and Aymara in the Andes, the Yanomami and Kayapo in the Brazilian Amazon, to the Garifuna, Maya, Taíno and Carib in Central America and the Caribbean, these lands hold immense cultural, spiritual and ecological significance for the Indigenous peoples who have stewarded them for generations. We pay our respects to their elders, both past and present, and acknowledge the resilience and wisdom of their communities.
As part of our commitment to responsible tourism, we recognize the importance of preserving Indigenous cultures, languages and ways of life and are always looking for ways to integrate their knowledge and perspectives into our events and communications.
This is an ongoing journey and we know that we can always do more. By acknowledging the traditional custodians of the lands we visit, we reaffirm our dedication to operating with integrity and respect. We pledge to continue learning from Indigenous peoples and to advocate for their rights and sovereignty. We also aspire to contribute to a more just and equitable world, where the voices and contributions of Indigenous communities are recognized and valued.
