Argentina is one of the most beautiful countries in South America. It’s the second largest country in Latin America and the eighth largest in the world. It is known for having the tradicional “empanadas”, also known for producing the best and most select meat cuts in the world, and its cuisine is internationally recognized for harmonizing the flavor of beef with its incredible wines. But it is also famous for its passion for the art of dance through the Tango and fanatical love for football.

Argentina has landscapes that please all tastes! Due to the country’s size, it offers endless possibilities for destinations, cities, landscapes and tourist attractions. It just depends on what you want to do.

But we’re going to explore more different and remote destinations in order to have a full, complete and amazing experience of this beautiful country through its energy and emotions, from the extraordinary glacial and snowy mountain landscapes and crystalline mountain lakes to some wide dry and arid climate valley.

El Calafate – Santa Cruz province

The charming city of El Calafate, five hours from Buenos Aires, is the best base for Los Glaciares National Park, known for its glaciers like Spegazzini, Upsala, Onelli and the magnificent Perito Moreno, one of the most beautiful views in South America and a treasure of the biosphere.

Visitors also come to El Calafate for the canoeing and trekking tours in the National Park or Laguna Los Tempanos, as well as 4×4 tours of the Balcones del El Calafate to visit the most interesting viewpoints such as Argentino Lake, the Andes and its glaciers, including the famous Boca del Diablo. And if the weather is clear, you can see Mount Fitz Roy and the Cerro Torre in El Chaltén.

A REMOTE Lodge member to complete the package trip is:

EOLO – Patagonia’s Spirit – The hotel is conveniently located halfway between the city of El Calafate and Los Glaciares National Park, yet far from the commotion of the tourist activity in the area. EOLO is a mountain hotel inspired by ancient Patagonian resorts, where guests can bask in the magnificence of Valle de La Anita with astonishing views from anywhere on the property and all of the 17 rooms.

Villa La Angostura – Neuquén province

In the south of the province of Neuquén stands a mountain village located on the northwest bank of Lake Nahuel Huapi, in the middle of the Patagonian mountain range. La Angostura is a cozy mountain village, a characteristic reflected in the type of construction based on the use of local materials (stone, wood, etc.). Almost all of its buildings have stone cladding, logs and large windows adapted perfectly to the prevailing landscape.

Surrounded by lavish, largely unspoiled nature, crystalline lakes, mountains, valleys and woods, you will find the tranquility and beauty of this place. It is the gateway to Arrayanes National Park, the only place in the world home to a natural forest of this tree species.

The best hotel to experience the style of this town is this REMOTE Lodge:

Correntoso Lake & River Hotel, Villa La Angostura – Correntoso is named for the river that flows into Lake Nahuel Huapi right beside it. Surrounded by the woods and peaks of the Andes, the hotel has established itself as a resting place, but also a starting point for exploring the region. Upon returning from the numerous outdoor activities, visitors find a cozy and extremely relaxing structure. Its 47 cozy apartments are highlighted by the large windows that allow the beauty of the exterior landscape to stream in. The hotel has four restaurants, a spa, swimming pool and sauna, as well as classes for stretching and yoga. Villa La Angostura is located in Nahuel Huapi National Park, where the main outdoor activities take place with options for all tastes.

Salta province

Located in a broad and arid valley in northwest Argentina surrounded by tall green mountains, it captivates tourists with its beautiful landscapes like Salinas Grandes, Purmamarca and Cerro de Los Siete Colores, as well as its cultural attractions, such as the Historical Museum of the North, the Contemporary Art Museum and the High Mountain Archeology Museum.

A REMOTE Lodge to stay during this magnificent experience is:

House of Jasmines is part of Relais & Châteaux association and one of the most romantic estancias in the world. At the foot of the Andes and just minutes from Salta city, travelers discover an elegant, 100-year old mansion with rooms and suites that boast rural-chic decor, providing absolute comfort and evoking soft refinement.
The spa, the large swimming pool and the yoga lessons provide total relaxation after a long day of hiking in the wonderful NOA, or “El Noreoeste Argentino.” You can also enjoy a meal at the La Table restaurant, which features produce grown on the grounds and local products from Salta Province.

Ushuaia province

Ushuaia is located in southern Argentina, a five-hour flight from Buenos Aires and almost two hours by plane from El Calafate. The most outstanding activities in this region are the tours of Tierra del Fuego National Park and the nostalgic ride on the End of the World Train, the captivating lakes region, the Beagle Channel with penguins and sea lions and the Cerro Castor complex, home to trails for skiing and snowboarding, perfect for those who want to venture into the snow during the winter, which is peak season, being ideal for playing winter sports.

Laguna Esmeralda, with its waters that reflect the snow-topped mountains, is one of the most visited spots in Ushuaia. And if you like history, be sure to stop by the Museum of the End of the World, the Maritime Prison Museum and the Thematic Gallery in Ushuaia.

There is also Lanín National Park, more rustic and less structured than Nahuel Huapi, home to beautiful araucaria forests, snowy volcanoes and crystalline lakes, such as Huechulafquen.

A REMOTE Lodge offering even more incredible memories with comfortable, luxury rooms, as well as unique services and activities is:

Los Cauquenes Resort – The only 5-star hotel located on the banks of the Beagle Channel has personalized service and attention to detail, offering several unique experiences: adventure tourism, direct access to a private beach, culinary experiences, spa and wellness treatments, an in-out pool and outstanding views from all rooms and hotel areas. The resort offers guests exclusive excursions with its own guides and equipment, so they can enjoy the destination with the same level and care as the Hotel offers, including such activities as skiing, hiking, cooking classes, body/facial treatments, kayaking, fishing, birdwatching and boat rides.
